Following the success of the Bessy & Benny School of Bass, specialising in double bass lessons for primary school age children, we are excited to extend our programmes to SECONDARY SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS living in the Edinburgh and surrounding areas* with the opening of the Bessy Academy!

At the Bessy Academy we want to introduce a world where social circles are expanded country-wide and potential life-long friendships are made!

We encourage & equip your young musician with the skills and opportunities for all levels of ensemble playing so they can experience just how important they and their double bass are to every orchestra, band or group!

Preparation for Trinity or ABRSM Grade Exams* and regional/national ensembles* (* NOT compulsory. Please note that the exam and accompanist fees are not included in the lesson charges).
The opportunity to attend special double bass events with other players involved in the programmes, organised by the Bessy Academy. These will be a mix of online and in person events.

There is an easy pay plan, spreading the cost of the 30 lessons over 12 months (The initial lesson is FREE so your will have a total of 31 lessons over the first year.).
OPTION BA1
30 MIN LESSON - beginners/under 14s
12 monthly payments of £69 (pay for 30 lessons, get 31)
OR
1 annual payment of £772 (pay for 28 lessons, get 31!)
OPTION BA2
45 MIN LESSON - intermediate/over 14s
12 monthly payments of only £103 (pay for 30 lessons, get 31)
OR
1 annual payment of £1159 (pay for 28 lessons, get 31!)
OPTION BA3
60 MIN LESSON - Advanced/over 16s
12 monthly payments of £138 (pay for 30 lessons, get 31)

1 annual payment of £1545 (pay for 28 lessons, get 31!)
We are a Community 🏘
The importance of feeling connected has never been highlighted so much as it was during lockdowns, so we have an exclusive Facebook Group just for BBSB and their families. This is a private group where we can meet informally and check in on each other. Exciting news, special events, motivational posts, competitions and games will be hosted there as well as shout outs for birthdays etc within our community.
You will have exclusive membership to our online library of playing tips, practise help videos & more!
This of course will be balanced with off-screen practise time and face to face lessons and other double bass events.

We get IT! 💻
We know how important screens are to kids (and grown-ups), and we do sneakily tempt them away for a little while, but we do believe in balance and are even more aware of the importance of technology since March 23 2020! Some of our activities will continue to be online and we have exciting trips to other countries via Zoom. Lessons can be blend of face to face and online.
